Making A Difference
Since our founding as a school, we have nurtured a strong connection with the place we call ‘home’. One of the ways we do this is by initiating various activities that bring benefit to its citizens and local businesses.
Whether to local or international charities, for humanitarian, environmental, or animal causes, our students take charge in giving back to the community. By giving their time and effort to benefit another individual or group without an expectation of reward or return, they can understand their potential to make positive change to the lives of others.
Here are some of the ways our students are making a difference:
APIS WeCare Campaign
A student-led campaign to raise awareness and funds to help the frontliners and victims of Covid-19. Students raised funds from their families, friends and the community, and then channeled the donation to reputable beneficiaries.
Donate Blood & Save A Life
“A drop of blood can save someone's life” and “30 minutes is all it takes to save a life” are two of our campaigns’ taglines to raise awareness of the importance of blood donation amongst our school community. Some of the institutions we have collaborated with are Hospital UMRA, Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah, and Pusat Darah Negara. This is an on-going initiative to encourage teachers and students to be part of a good cause that keeps giving.
The Haunted House
A charity programme by our Standard 4 students. This program was held to raise funds for the special children with disabilities and underprivileged children in Pusat Penjagaan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Taman Megah (PPKKCTM). Tickets were sold at RM5 per person. Furthermore, students held a Bake Sale to help raise more funds and to showcase their baking skills.
School visit: Charity Homes (Orphanage & OKU)
A group of 25 Form 5 prefects visited Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-anak Yatim dan OKU Mesra in Petaling Jaya. They were accompanied by their advisors and Secondary discipline teachers to give donations in kind as well as to spend time helping and entertaining the children with songs and fun games.
